What Is Lamoille FiberNet?

Lamoille FiberNet is a Communications Union District (CUD), which is a municipality established by two or more towns for the purpose of delivering communications services together, regulated by Vermont Law (see 30 V.S.A Chapter 82).

In 2025, Lamoille FiberNet successfully completed its Universal Service Plan, ensuring that every on-grid address within its 10-town service area has access to at least one high-speed broadband provider. This milestone capped a five-year effort, including a two-year construction partnership with Fidium Fiber which now provides service throughout the district.

Though the network is built, Lamoille FiberNet’s responsibility continues: protecting the public investment and ensuring the broadband infrastructure created through this partnership continues to serve our communities as promised.

Lamoille FiberNet’s role has shifted from building broadband infrastructure to public oversight and stewardship, as the CUD monitors network performance, service commitments, consumer protections, and partnership compliance in its 20-year Fidium agreement.

Lamoille FiberNet is also completing the remaining administrative and financial closeout of its grant-funded work, including reporting, audits, reconciliation of unused funds and finalizing the more challenging broadband connections.

Our Vision: Every home and business in our territory will be connected to fast, reliable internet service.

Our Mission: To prioritize access to unserved and underserved addresses to symmetrical, high-speed, and affordable internet service—as soon as possible.

Our Strategy: To use grant funding and public/private partnerships to finance the construction, operation, and maintenance of a cost-effective, robust, and sustainable network, while providing oversight and leveraging our resources to serve our communities' current and future connectivity needs.

Our Service Area: Lamoille FiberNet includes the towns of Belvidere, Cambridge, Eden, Elmore, Hyde Park, Johnson, Morristown, Stowe, Waterville, and parts of Wolcott.
