Grant Opportunities
The Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is offering a new program to help communities become more energy resilient, reduce energy use and operating costs, and curb greenhouse gas emissions. The Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP) aims to do this by promoting renewable energy, fuel switching, weatherization, and thermal improvements to reduce energy burdens in communities across Vermont.
One opportunity now available through MERP is the Community Capacity Building Mini-Grant. This grant provides municipalities up to $4,000 to support community engagement and outreach. Potential uses include, but are not limited to: educational events, purchasing promotional materials, starting an energy committee. BGS is now accepting applications for this program. The application process is non-competitive. LCPC can assist with applications and any other stage of the process.
Applications are still avaiable! Upon approval, assessments will be scheduled in priority order. Please continue to work with LCPC staff to submit application documents and stay abreast of program opportunities.
A link to the application can be found on the BGS website:
